In a surprising development at the luxury tourism project “Appenzeller Huus” in Gonten, Appenzell Innerrhoden, founder and owner Jan Schoch has officially taken over the operational leadership of the resort. This marks a significant shift as he replaces Tim-Martin Weber, who had been preparing the opening of the five-star flagship property, “Huus Quell.”
According to a report first published by Gault-Millau editor Urs Heller, Weber’s departure—though not unusual for an “Opening General Manager” in international luxury hospitality—has still come as an unexpected move. Opening managers often leave after completing the pre-launch phase, but the abrupt timing has drawn attention.
A Major Role in Building the Team
Tim-Martin Weber began his journey at Appenzeller Huus with just 18 employees. Over time, he successfully expanded the team to more than 80 highly skilled hotel professionals. A large part of this talent pool was recruited from his previous workplace, The Chedi Andermatt, one of Switzerland’s renowned luxury hotels.
His contribution was crucial in building the foundation, team structure, and operational momentum required for a luxury experiential resort of this scale.
