The Central Government has introduced major changes to the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana portal. From now on, Farmer ID (Kisan Pehchaan Patra) is mandatory for all new applicants. This step aims to prevent fraud, increase transparency, and make the digital process more efficient.

The rule has already been implemented in 10 states (including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, etc.) since January 1, 2025, and will soon be rolled out in other states.

According to the update, the application form will now require marital status, land ownership documents, and spouse/parent details. The login process has also been upgraded with an OTP-based system for better security. Below are the complete details of the changes.

What is Farmer ID?

The Farmer ID is a digital identity card linked to the farmer’s land records, Aadhaar, and bank account. It is also known as Kisan Pehchaan Patra. The government aims to issue 6 crore Farmer IDs by March 2025.

• Step 1: Visit your state’s agriculture department portal (e.g., CM Kisan Portal).
• Step 2: Click on “New Farmer Registration”.

• Step 4: Complete OTP or biometric eKYC.
• Step 5: Upon successful registration, you will receive a unique Farmer ID.

Note: If you do not have a Farmer ID, the PM Kisan portal will display the error message “Farmer ID not generated” during registration.
