On the occasion of India’s 79th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY), a major employment initiative aimed at boosting job creation in the private sector. This scheme will offer ₹15,000 incentive to young individuals securing their first job in the private sector and will also provide benefits to companies that create new employment opportunities. Two-Part Structure of the Scheme

The scheme is divided into Part A and Part B:

Part A – For First-Time Job Holders

  • Eligibility: Must be registered with EPFO (Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation)
  • Incentive Amount: Maximum ₹15,000 (equivalent to one month’s EPF wage)
  • Salary Limit: Eligible for those earning up to ₹1 lakh per month

Payment Schedule:

  • First installment after completing 6 months of continuous service
  • Second installment after 12 months of service and completion of a financial literacy program

Part B – For Employers

  • Benefit: Up to ₹3,000 per month per additional employee (earning ≤ ₹1 lakh/month) for two years
  • Special for Manufacturing Sector: Benefit extended for the third and fourth year as well

Eligibility for Establishments:

  • Firms with less than 50 employees must hire at least 2 additional employees
  • Firms with 50 or more employees must hire at least 5 additional employees
  • Employees must work continuously for 6 months to qualify for employer incentives
